With the local vampire coven decimated, Julia and Nicholas try to begin a somewhat normal life together. Bound by secrecy from a shape shifter determined to see Julia's world-saving prediction come to fruition, Julia isn't allowed to tell Nicholas the leader survived, ransacking her happiness with guilt. When Alora returns, bent on revenge, the reunion forces Nicholas and Julia to choose what they are willing to live and die for. I'm baffled by the amount of time spent on inane conversation so the I was quite excited to win this book as a first reader on Goodreads!
The Emerald Talisman introduced Julia Parker, a 16 year-old empath who becomes involved with vampires—-some good, some not so good Author Brenda Pandos lives in California with her husband, two energetic boys, eight chickens and a grumpy orange cat. She's taken over as the protecter in this book switching up their roles even though Nicholas doesn't know it.
There are returns of characters from the first book but I won't say whom as to ruin the plot. Also there are some dramatic character changes not everyone ends up ok in this one but there are reasons for everything. I genuinely have fallen in love with Nicholas and Julia's brother Luke. I like the real connections and relationships she has with her friends they remind me a lot of some of my own.
Aug 07, Kate rated it really liked it Recommends it for: Everyone who loves YA, Vampires, and Paranormal stuffs! Reader beware, this may have a "spoilery" hint or two! Before jumping in to The Sapphire Talisman, I had thought that Phil was just a fleeting character in book one; created only to be an obstacle in the budding relationship between Julia and Nicholas. I truly never imagined there was more to come for him! Lol, sometimes I avoid posts so successfully that I end up feeling like a dweeb for missing really important pieces of information!
The relationship between Julia and Nicholas becomes much more realistic in book two. As mentioned in my review of The Emerald Talisman found here , I initially had a hard time with how quickly they came together. Julia and Nicholas' relationship progresses into a much more mature and level headed state in The Sapphire Talisman.
Julia seems less the gushing, immature teen infatuated with a hot boy and more the responsible young lady truly in love with her beau. With plenty of relationship road blocks, fabulously frightening foes, and intriguing new characters and friendships, Pandos has created another wonderful tale about a girl and her knight in shinning armor! Aug 22, Lauren rated it it was amazing Shelves: Thankfully, when I finally did get the chance to read The Sapphire Talisman, it turned out to be everything I was expecting and even more.
It was seriously even better than its prequel, something that doesn't usually happen that often in series. Julia and Nicholas' secret relationship is better than ever and everything has mostly returned back to normal. Though, soon enough, everything turns upside down once again when Alora makes yet another grand appearance. This time she's meaner than ever, and promises to wreck not only Julia and Nicholas' relationship, but the characters themselves. Will they fight back and win? Will secrets be reveled?
Only time will tell in this spectacular follow-up to The Emerald Talisman. It was present in nearly every character and relationship in this book, and that was something that I was not only grateful for but also one of my favorite parts of the book, because I loved finding out more about Nicholas and his mysterious past, as well as Alora's coven and Julia's family.
I also liked the new "hat" Julia wore in this book because not only was she fearless and brave but she stood on her own quite nicely, instead of hanging on Nicholas's every word. Plus I loved the tension between her and Nicholas and a surprise guest. It always kept me on the edge of my chair curious to see what would occur next. Anohter part of this novel I enjoyed was the plot. For one, it was even more action packed and develeped than in in The Emerald Tailsman, and for two, it forever left me on the tips of my toes with all the twist and turns it mangaged to pack in between the charactes and their relationships.
Brenda's writing was also even better in this book. As mentioed before she did a fablous job with develepment. Plus her transitions and pace were both great! In all, The Sapphire Talisman is defitnely one of the best sequels I've read in a long time, and I can't wait to see what Brenda has in store for all of her readers next!
Jul 30, Laura Kreitzer rated it it was amazing Shelves: The thought of her locked up in the science lab all weekend seemed funny. The Sapphire Talisman is book two in the Talisman Series and what a breath of fresh air it is! Pandos moves forward instead of back when it comes to her writing style.
In this book we see the relationship between Julia and Nicholas grow, which was needed after their quick love story in The Emerald Tali The thought of her locked up in the science lab all weekend seemed funny. In this book we see the relationship between Julia and Nicholas grow, which was needed after their quick love story in The Emerald Talisman. We finally find out what the heck is up with Alora and Enigma whose name is actually Scarlett. Julia goes on a kind of soul-searching journey—at least that was how I saw it.
She grows as a person and finally moves out of that younger teen stage. What did I love about this book? First of all, Pandos does not lack with the action, romance, or excitement. Any time the novel began to slow down, it quickly sped back up and caught me up in a whirlwind of action. There were times my heart was gripped with worry and others when I wanted to weep along with Julia.
The relationship between her and Enigma aka Scarlett was hilarious and caused me to laugh out loud several times. I love it when a book can do that to me. Besides the characters that seem to come off the pages, the plot changed from unoriginal to fantastical! I honestly had no idea where Pandos was going at the end and found myself going through the pages so fast I had to go backward to reread a few times. I guess she drew me in a little too well.
Watch out, Pandos is on the rise! Jul 20, Nana rated it really liked it. The presentation begins where its predecessor ends: Julia and Nicholas try to recover from the occurred situations while their relationship explored new areas, however, with few time gone by they see themselves involved in a new conflict, p My General Rating: Julia, as a main character, sticks a little bit out of the line from the typical narrator and shows sparks of strength and courage. Nicholas will be involved in a terrible change depending on the crystal you look it with and his secrets will be exposed, which will probably put at risk his relationship with Julia or unites them once and for all without looking back.
My favorite aspect again in the story was Enigma. Its relationship with Julia is simply funny and the idea of this supernatural element is interesting. Jul 20, La Femme Readers rated it it was amazing. Brenda's flow of writing has developed since the first book. Her artistic potential and storytelling skills succeeded in formulating a wondrous continuation. The unexpected plot twists and defined characters helped me once again get lost in Brenda's creativity.
This time around, Nicholas and Julia switched roles. Instead of Nicholas protecting her, Julia turned into a feisty and courageous young lady. In the hands of Alora, a malevolent vampire, Nicholas succumbed to his half vampire darkness, leaving Julia to fend for herself. However, before evil fell upon him, Nicholas had a heart fluttering likability that I felt lacked in the past.
The relationship between the two blossomed into a sweet and tight bond. I must say though, I was amused by his change and actually preferred the evil version better. Then again, I am biased since one of my favorite characters abruptly came back. Due to spoilers, I won't mention his name. The only thing I will share is that this certain individual tickled me with butterflies. His cocoon of love for Julia made me swoon like a little school girl. He had the perfect balance that all vampires should embody, and did I mention I am in love with him?
Moving on, throughout the fight for Nicholas's freedom, Julia's ability to sense emotions and auras came in handy. I was glad to see that she no longer acted naive and actually functioned without being around him. All in all, the sequel surpassed my expectations and left me longing for the next installment.
I am eager to know what lies in store for Julia and Nicholas. Will their relationship sustain the damaging cracks or will she maybe move on to someone else? Hm, we shall see, hopefully Brenda releases it soon!
Sep 03, Lisa Sanchez rated it really liked it. The Sapphire Talisman, by Brenda Pandos was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Several surprises are revealed throughout, so I'm going to keep my review short and sweet to avoid spoiling anything. Brenda Pandos has a delightful YA voice, and did a fabulous job capturing the ins and outs of a high school girl with extra sensory powers and a half vamp boyfriend. The relationships between Julia and her friends were bel The Sapphire Talisman, by Brenda Pandos was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
The relationships between Julia and her friends were believable and interesting, and I felt all the angst, heartbreak and elation that Julia felt as she journeyed through the book. It was great to see Julia grow, both maturity wise and in her talent. Loved the descriptions that were used to show how Julia muted her power. I enjoyed the secondary cast as much as the main characters, and found myself unable to put my Kindle down as I had to know what happened next. Pandos for writing such wonderful characters!
Can't wait for the third installment! One more thing- I'm a staunch Nicholas supporter, but there was another character who stole my heart in TST. That's all I'm sayin'. Jul 20, Once Upon a Twilight rated it really liked it. We begin here where The Emerald Talisman left off. Brenda made this one a roller coaster ride from the beginning to the end. As a sequel I think it did a great job following the 1st book.
It continues to give us a story that has not been written before in the Vampire world. The characters are well written. Honestly my favorite character is one of the supporting character.
The Sapphire Talisman (Talisman, #2) by Brenda Pandos
I still enjoy the main characters but the way Brenda writes this supporting character you just have to love him. Nicholas sho We begin here where The Emerald Talisman left off. Nicholas show us a new evil side to him while Julia is now the one trying to save and protect him. Their relationship grows but of course with some major bumps along the way. I enjoyed reading Julia's new side and that she finally has embraced her gifts. She even begins to use them to help her out at times.
Alora is back and we find out details about her involving Nicholas. We have a character appear that I won't mention so I don't spoil the surprise. So overall if you want to read about a different Vampire type story them pick up Brenda's books. Mar 23, Heather rated it really liked it Shelves: This one of those great Kindle published books. Give them a try , they compete well with the big publisher series and a fraction of the cost. I have really enjoyed the first two and can't wait for the third!
This book continues the story of Nicolas and Julia. It brings back characters thought lost in the first book which added an interesting amount of tension. I also like that we know more about everyone's past especially the ""cat, as I always found her an interesting little tidbit. Not too long This one of those great Kindle published books.
Not too long until the next book and I'm really looking toward to it. Jun 02, Shari rated it really liked it. I want to see how it ends!!!!! I loved the character development and it got a lot better in the second book. I hope there is another one on the way Nov 04, Kristi-The Book Faery rated it really liked it. It was a nice light read that I enjoyed. Dec 15, Kristie Cook rated it it was amazing Shelves: I really enjoyed this one and can't wait for the final book. Jul 20, Heather rated it liked it. Before I start in on the book, I want to start with the cover. A breathtaking shade of blue dominates, and the talisman is just beautiful. And the front cover truly is gorgeous. The story itself was good, but not as good as The Emerald Talisman.
The good Before I start in on the book, I want to start with the cover. The good news is that the action started earlier in this one, whereas the other was kinda slow to grab me. Part of the problem, I believe, was Julia. Very whiny, very stubborn, and just plain stupid. Given everything she experienced and witnessed in the previous book, she knows better about a lot of things. To choose otherwise, or to whine about it, just seems stupid.
And her problem with Scarlet.
Still, it was annoying after a while. Despite my issues with the main character, the plot itself was good. It is action-packed and fast-paced. I think that means the foreshadowing is handled perfectly.

Just enough to raise suspicions, but not so much that it gives things away. I can appreciate that. One thing I really like is how this book can stand alone. While there are references to the previous book, enough is explained that someone could read this and not feel like they were missing keys parts of the story. Like Emerald, the end to this book is satisfactory. While there are still one or two ends that could use a little tightening up, enough is resolved to leave me content — but looking forward to the next volume in this series.
Aug 08, Jessica rated it it was amazing. If you haven't yet read my review of The Emerald Talisman, let me fill you in really quickly. The last book kind of left me feeling a little bit let down. Not because of the writing, and definitely not because of the characters, but because one of the key components of the book felt unfinished. It was Julia's empathetic abilities that drew me to the series, and I had felt that they weren't fleshed out enough.
My hope was that by diving into The Sapphire Talisman I'd find the answer to what I was If you haven't yet read my review of The Emerald Talisman, let me fill you in really quickly. My hope was that by diving into The Sapphire Talisman I'd find the answer to what I was missing before. How right I was! This sequel blew my mind. The first chapter covered the basics of what happened in the last book, and essentially allows you to read this one even if you hadn't read the last. Although I wouldn't recommend it. How will you know the sheer epicness of this book if you miss the first half of the story?
Needles to say that everything I loved about the first book was still present, but and I didn't know this was possible the writing was even better and so were the characters. I was completely absorbed into Julia's world. It's a bit difficult to review this book and not spoil something important for you, dear readers.
There is so much going on that I am still reeling from just recently finishing the last page. I'll slake my hunger for spilling the details by simply telling you that the blinding love that Julia has for Nicholas is fantastic. Above all else, it was that deep love that she had for him that kept this book moving. Sure, at times she was irrational. However Julia's character was so well developed that I knew her irrationality only stemmed from the need she felt to be with Nicholas. There was no confusion here about how she could adore him so much.
He's an amazing guy. I'll end here, for fear I give away some of the plot. I realize that this review is vague, but those of you eagerly awaiting this book's release will probably thank me. I hate spoilers, you hate spoilers, I keep them out of my reviews. It's easy for me to admit that I am fully on board with Julia, Nicholas and the rest of their motley crew.

I don't want to give it away but I will just say that a character I adored comes back and I couldn't have been happier!
I think I actually squealed when I saw the name. At the same time, Nicholas faces some evil forces he isn't able to fight and Julia struggles with letting him fight the battle alone. I enjoy Nicholas but I won't say I was disappointed with his time away. Julia was well taken care of: Brenda did a fabulous job building this world of vampires and that continues throughout The Sapphire Talisman. Her descriptive writing and well-paced action throughout this story made it difficult to put down.
Many moments made me gasp out loud and I had to flip the pages faster to see what happened next. In the beginning Julia seemed very focused on Nicholas but she quickly seemed to grow more independent as the story progressed. I'm excited to see where this story goes and what's in store for Julia as she dives deeper into the world of vampires and discovers more about her own abilities. The Sapphire Talisman is full of suspense, mystery, action, romance, and surprising moments of humor that will grab the reader from the first page.
