Jung, in his later years, was, by all accounts an impressive fellow, a charismatic. Although the text does give a summary of Jung's life, it is certainly not the best.

Aug 11, Phlegethon rated it it was amazing Shelves: This is a wonderful biography of and introduction to Jung by a gifted writer who knew Jung personally in the last 13 years of his life. Sep 27, Ben added it. Van der Post was a clost friend of Jung and clearly thinks that the man was the greatest thinkers of the 20th century. The book is a good introduction to Jung. If you've never heard of Jung, please check this out. Unfortunatley, I lost my copy on G2!

Indeed, part of the compulsion for putting the experience of his extraordinarily fruitful friendship with Jung into book form was precisely that the limitations of a single film sequence left him with the insistent feeling of a challenge only partially met.

To present Jung as he knew him, not Jung the psychologist but rather Jung the man, the discoverer and explorer of a new dimension in the human spirit, was the task which Laurens van der Post set himself and which has taken his special gifts to accomplish.
