This is the perfect Halloween themed book for in class reading in elementary schools and early middle schools. Equal parts scary, mysterious, gross and silly, it's pure fun. It's definitely recommended for all collections aimed at fostering a love of reading. Review by Michele Lee AJ is a typical twelve-year-old, plagued by the school bullies, and is not thrilled when a girl is assigned to be his science partner. Did the bullies show up to the party?! Zala Manor is the sort of house I dreamed about as a child: I recommend this funny, scary, high-interest chapter book for reluctant readers and boys in particular, but Lilah and I both enjoyed it.

I received an e-galley of this title courtesy of the publisher. Sep 30, Bill Tillman rated it really liked it Shelves: Moon was written by three authors, it is very much 4th and 5th grade material. Nice plot, nice pace, a bit on the corny side but at 70 who am I to know the current crop of 9 to 11 year olds?

Wonderful use of a classic haunted house, secret passages and such. The real kicker is the year old rat with the brain of a parrot. Jan 07, DelAnne Frazee rated it it was amazing Shelves: Craggy Coves Press Pages: Children's Fiction Sub Genre: Description from the Publisher: Description from the Publishers: My review of "Curse at Zala Manor" Do you enjoy reading a book that can send chills up your spine, but doesn't gross you out with lots of gory details?

With a well planned plot and bold adventurous characters, "Curse of Zala Manor" more than fits the bill. Moving at a fast pace this story holds the interest of the reader from beginning to the very end.

Will Craggy Cove become Zombie Central? Who will be alive when midnight tolls? This book is awesome! As a lover of the horror genre and ghost stories and mysteries this book really takes the cake. It has everything, from a creepy house to secret passageways, to ghost and zombies and more!

Monster Moon : Curse of Zala Manor by BBH McChiller (2009, Hardcover)

I knew from page 1 that I would fall in love with the book. It is rich with family secrets that gives the reader an urge to keep reading. My favorite series, even to this day, is Nancy Drew. I love when characters come together to solve mysteries and uncover hidden truths. The deeper and darker the secret the more interested I become. Books like this make me want to keep reading until my eyes are red and sore and I am so sleep deprived that the fiction of the book starts to seem real to me. I honestly can not say enough about how good the writing is.

The characters are very well defined. Will Craggy Cove become Zombie Central?
