The presence of the Americans ensured a tense ceasefire between the insurrection and the government forces for a time, and Akabal also used the opportunity to attract additional media attention. Although the WHO delegation rebuffed the Hero Twins, due to their unwillingness to become involved in a political upheaval, Akabal viewed their tense meeting with the Hero Twins as a success thanks to the resulting media attention.

As in many mythologies, certain salient symbols are used as a sort of shorthand, bringing the entire story to the viewer's mind.
These symbolic statements may have been used as mnemonics to keep the reader or story teller on track, but more likely, their function was to enforce the precepts of a long standing and deeply felt religious attitude towards their basic mythology. Velez, an avowed die-hard fan of the Wonder Twins, intended to begin a revival of the characters, but was taken off the series after the first issue with the Wonder Twins.
