Thomas Beale must have been a strange man. Legend has it that in , Beale and a few men he was traveling with came into a large sum of gold and silver while mining somewhere in the Rocky Mountains. So Beale wrote three ciphers. Beale then entrusted Robert Morriss, a Lynchburg, Virginia innkeeper, with the safekeeping of a box containing the ciphers. Morriss was supposed to wait 10 years before opening it.

At this point, if Beale did not return for the box, a key to the cipher was supposed to be mailed to Morriss. But it never arrived. For years, Morriss and a friend tried to decode the three ciphers, but they could only manage the second cipher the one describing the contents of the treasure. Jean LaFitte, along with his brother Pierre, were French pirates who made their living attacking merchant ships in the Gulf of Mexico and then selling the goods at one of their many ports or through a warehouse they owned.

Apparently, the two brothers were so good at smuggling and pirating that they amassed enough wealth that they had to resort to burying some it. After LaFitte died sometime between and , legend of his treasures began circulating around Louisiana. Claims have been made that there are large caches of treasure buried somewhere in Lake Borgne, right off the coast of New Orleans, and another about five kilometers three miles east of the Old Spanish Trail near the Sabine River in a gum tree grove.

Butch Cassidy is arguably one of the most notable outlaws of the Wild West. He was such an outlaw that he even formed an outlaw group, called the Wild Bunch , to travel with him, robbing whomever they felt like.

Being an outlaw means you have money, and everyone knows John Dillinger had a lot of money. Dillinger was hiding out with a few of his outlaw buddies in April The FBI shot the first three men walking out the door, all three of whom happened to be civilians. This bronze chest, filled with valuable paraphernalia, jewelry, archaeological wonders and gold coins, has been estimated to be worth several million dollars, and the only way to find it is by using the clues in a short poem found within his memoir, The Thrill of the Chase.

Parable of the Hidden Treasure

Is this genuine, or a hoax? As noted by the Washington Post , one died in early during a search, and their body was pulled from the Rio Grande. A pastor from Colorado died last summer in a similar fashion, and another adventurer perished along the Arkansas River around the same time. The latest victim, year-old Jeff Murphy, died last spring, and a Freedom of Information Request by KULR8 , a news network in Montana, revealed that he was also on the hunt for the elusive chest of wonders.

The food and service were excellent! We were in San Pedro for 6 nights and it was so good that we went twice! Read all the reviews about this place, and had to try it It was very good Definitely recommend for a "nice" meal Not inexpensive, but worth it We have been to the island 6 times and we have been to Hidden Treasure every trip.

Well worth it every single time. The food here is great. Lots of great choices. Make sure not to miss it. We dined here for Thanksgiving and totally enjoyed our non-traditional T-Day meal! It is open air so you may want to Not the easiest to find but truly worth the search. The ambiance is great and the food fantastic.

Stuffed and almond crusted grouper was really good. The neighbourhood might not be seen as the best but everything was good!

The place was clean, food came out pretty quickly but we also just sat there relaxing, enjoying our conversation and never felt rushed.

Elvies sorry if I spelled this wrong! This place should be called the hidden restaurant. Not inexpensive, but was the best experience we had overall. All of your saved places can be found here in My Trips.
