But we do get to experience Gabriel's anguish and helplessness where Shay is concerned, and we follow Shay through her fear and later determination to be reunited with Gabriel. Everything is well written, and never dwells too long on any one supporting character before returning to either Shay or Gabriel. I appreciated this added insight into the vampires, but I missed the interaction between Shay and Gabriel. I also missed the YA high school feeling from the first book. If I didn't know that Shay was a teenager, I would have thought she was an adult. Both Crave books should really be read together since they tell one main story: I loved this book even more then the first one, I thought this was going to be just another vampire story but after reading the first book I was surprised, then I began this book and it blew me away.

Many things are revealed, there is heartbreak, angst, love, hatred, sacrifice, and undying love just saying love wasn't enough. I love Shay in this book, she is strong, loyal, loving, and fearless and Gabriel is so wonderful, he is sexy, loving, supportive, loyal to Shay, and can admit when he has made a mistake. We get to meet his family and I will just say that there are two members that I did not like at all, there was a third but he made up for his mistakes in the end. Shay's mother is so strong, and the love she had and still has for Sam is beautiful, she is there for her daughter and to help the others.

I liked how the author had us experience some of the thoughts and feelings Shay was going through and got to read and I swear feel how strong her bond was with Gabriel.

This book is full of drama, action, and suspense, I hated knowing it was going to end and I would no longer be reading about Shay and Gabriel but they do get their HEA, this series is a must read. Shay McGuire is no longer ill. It was never an illness at all. Shay learned that she was born a half-vampire.

The downside is that she must drink Gabriel's blood or she will die. With this revelation Gabriel decides the safest place to be is with his family. But on arrival they announce Shay is an abomination and must die. Shay is taken to the basement and Gabriel starts wondering if he'll every see her again. Not your average vampire story, which is very refreshing. Shay and Gabriel are characters I have enjoyed reading about.

I loved that we got to meet Gabriel's family, but with the exception of Millie they were absolutely annoying - almost to the point I didn't want to finish the book. Their reaction to Shay was surprising. I'm glad I stuck with it though, Sacrifice turned out to be an engaging story. A story of family, rejection, hope and love. The ending was very satisfying.

The second book in the series picks up right where the last left off. Gabriel has returned to his family, with Shay in tow, hoping that they will offer her help and understanding. Needless to say, things don't go quite as planned. Gabriel's family views Shay as an abomination and aren't thrilled with him either for helping Shay or bringing her into the folds.

Now, Gabriel and Shay both have to make some tough choices about love and family. I really enjoyed the first book in the series. There are so many vampire books out there so I'm always happy when I come across one that pulls me in because it has its own charm, is well written, and has characters that I can really connect with. I was really excited to read the second book in the series and it didn't disappoint. The writing pulled me in from the beginning and held my attention through out the story.

Sacrifice is a fitting title because all of the characters in this book are faced with some tough choices. I love that even though this is a book about vampires, the authors do a great job of tying in messages about humanity , love, and family. This book was also fast paced and offered a lot of action. The plot remains strong and the characters are what really sells it for me. I'm not sure if there will be another book in the series because everything was wrapped up quite nicely. I really enjoyed the first book in this series called Crave, so when I found out there was a part 2 I had to have it.

Part 2 is also quite enjoyable. Good characters and good action, but not too much action so as to be overwhelming. I loved this book.

We were able to find out why shay had the blood disease and how she met Gabriel. Really good vampire YAs aren't as easy to find as one might expect. It can be hard to find a new approach or a fresh take on the mythology to really capture the audience's attention these days.

One of the aspects that attracted me so much to CRAVE was the very believable and well paced romance that developed between Shay and Gabriel. They both had to overcome so much before they could even begin to look at each other as anything but the enemy. But we do get to experience Gabriel's anguish and helplessness where Shay is concerned, and we follow Shay through her fear and later determination to be reunited with Gabriel.

Everything is well written, and never dwells too long on any one supporting character before returning to either Shay or Gabriel.
